If you are passionate about contemporary art and architecture, there is an event you must see absolutely at the weekend in Venice between October and November: the Architecture Biennale.
The famous international exhibition, which will close on November 26 is an extraordinary opportunity to immerse yourself in a world of creativity, inspiration, and a vision of the future.
Since its first edition in 1895, the Venice Biennale, both in the edition dedicated to art and in that dedicated to architecture, has established itself as one of the fundamental points of reference in the world’s artistic and cultural panorama.
Hosted in the magnificent Giardini della Biennale and Arsenale venues and the evocative spaces of Forte Marghera in Mestre, La Biennale Architettura 2023 offers a unique perspective on global artistic and architectural trends.
The Venice Biennale 2023 is the Laboratory of the Future
The 18th International Architecture Exhibition of the Venice Biennale offers a futuristic and stimulating vision of the world of architecture.
Entitled “The Laboratory of the Future” and curated by Lesley Lokko, architect, architecture teacher, and writer of novels, the 2023 edition is proposed as an authentic conceptual laboratory in which architects and creatives from different disciplines explore and outline the path of architecture towards the future.
The 2023 Architecture Biennale is divided into six sections, with 64 participating nations and 89 architects and professionals who brought contributions and ideas to Venice to offer their vision of how architecture can shape our evolving world.
Our suggestions for visiting the Architecture Biennale
We have been to the Biennale many times, and the first tip is: take it easy!
Divide the visit into two daily, one to see the exhibition at the Arsenale and one to visit the national pavilions in the Giardini della Biennale.
It takes around three hours to visit each venue, and thanks to the ticket being valid for several days, you can take advantage of seeing the Biennale at different times and enjoy the historic spaces that host it, which alone are worth the visit.
Please note that the Biennale is closed on Mondays, except 16 and 30 October and 20 November.
From October 1st, the opening hours change: From 10:00 to 18:00, with entry allowed until 17:45.
From Ca’ Amadi, you can reach the Biennale Gardens in half an hour on foot or in 20 minutes by vaporetto.
We recommend going on foot, as the route along the San Marco Basin offers spectacular views.
